A Note From The Innkeepers

Welcome to summertime in Vermont! We have had more than our share of hot weather so far, but I think it has been cooler than most states in the East. This morning I watched the sun come up over Lord's Hill and enjoyed a cool breeze and 60 degree temps. when I took Widget out around 5:30.

It seems like it will be a perfect day to explore the area. Of course most of our guests will start the dayoff with a breakfast right here in our breakfast room. I've been offering our fresh raspberries for the last week or so. The berries are ripe a full 2 weeks earlier than last year thanks to all the warm, dry weather!

The local produce is fantastic so far. When you visit us be sure to check out Montpelier and St. Jay for their Saturday markets. Danville has a terrific one everyWednesday.

Diana with hollyhockStop by the Vermont Flower Farm right down the road from us. The day lilies are blooming and this year they have added many other beautful plants. Then spend the rest of the day in Groton State Forest. Boulder Beach is a great place to swim or rent canoes or paddle boats. Hike up Owl's Head for the wonderful view.

And of course, don't miss all the food and fun in Hardwick or Montpelier! Dining in either town is always an adventure in local flavors. We'll give you our menu book to peruse and help you get to where you want to go. See you soon!
